Trust & Tax Assistant
The team
Our clients’ Private Wealth team provide advice on UK and international tax and estate planning, trusts and trust administration, landed estates and immigration. They also work closely with colleagues in other departments to provide assistance to individuals with matters related to residential property, employment, business affairs and family law.
The opportunity
This role will support the Tax and Trusts team within our Private Wealth department. The tax and trusts team offer a fully bespoke service, including direct communication with trustees, beneficiaries, financial and other relevant professional advisers and HMRC. The team have experience in managing trusts with a variety of different asset classes, including traded stock market investment portfolios, residential and commercial property, landed estates, trading companies and works of art.
On a day to day basis you will be assisting the trust managers who will provide you with on the job training to develop your skills and knowledge of trust taxation and accounting.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone wishing to further develop their knowledge of trust taxation. Sponsorship for professional qualifications is also supported by the department.
The main duties will include:
- Preparation of simple trust tax returns
- Preparation of simple trust accounts
- Beneficiary repayment claims
- Preparing R185’s
- Maintaining trust accounting records
- Dealing with compliance record keeping such as FATCA, CRS, TRS etc
- Arranging payments to beneficiaries
- Drafting IHT calculations for relevant property charges
- Drafting IHT returns
Who we are looking for
The successful candidate will have experience of trust taxation, trust accounts and trust administration gained through working in a private client department of a firm of accountants, law firm or trust company. They must have a high level of numeracy and analytical skills, be able to prioritise and have strong interpersonal skills.
They will ideally hold the AAT or ATT qualification and experience of the MYOB trust software CCH Central and Trust Accounts is preferable.
