Solicitor/Legal Executive (Dispute Resolution – Commercial & Insurance)
Dispute Resolution is one of the core practice areas of the firm. The team acts on behalf of insurers, brokers and loss adjusters in relation to subrogated property damage claims involving fires, escapes of water, escapes of oil, product liability claims, impact damage claims, fraudulent claims, FOS complaints, public liability and work related accidents; and (2) advises on professional negligence claims, contract disputes, insolvency matters, property litigation, contentious probate claims and acts in general dispute resolution matters. The team provides advice to insurers, brokers, loss adjusters, corporate clients, insolvency practitioners, and individuals.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Advising on contentious insurance claims, dispute resolution matters, property litigation, insolvency related matters and contentious probate disputes.
- Keeping up to date with changes in the law and preparing/delivering updates to include articles and e-bulletins for both clients and the team internally.
- Dealing with accounts processes, including time recording and billing.
- Ensuring that all deadlines and Service Legal Agreements are met, including the prompt actioning of all client instructions.
- Providing management information.
- Involvement in business development initiatives both within and outside working hours.
- Developing strong relationships with existing clients and working to bring further work into the business.
- Involvement in trade & professional bodies including The Southampton Insurance Institute, The Subsidence Forum, The Southampton Property Association and R3.
Person Specification
The ideal candidate must be enthusiastic, self-motivated, willing to learn new areas and deliver excellent service to clients/colleagues in a friendly and efficient manner. Candidates should have a good eye for detail and be able to work under time constraints and prioritise work load. Great communication skills are a must.
Experience
- The successful candidate will ideally have 0 – 2 years PQE.
- Experience of one or more of insurance law, dispute resolution, property litigation and insolvency desirable.
